Much of a plant's performance above the surface begins with what happens below it.

A healthy, extensively developed root system gives the plant a larger area through which to absorb water and nutrients. This can support faster establishment, stronger vegetative development and greater resilience when environmental conditions become less favourable.

CANNA states that RHIZOTONIC encourages root production and plant establishment, making it particularly valuable during the early stages of growth and whenever the root system has been disturbed through transplanting or repotting.

Natural Seaweed-Based Root Support

RHIZOTONIC is based on an extract of the North Atlantic seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum.

This marine plant naturally contains a broad range of organic compounds, and CANNA's formulation combines the extract with vitamins and minerals to create a concentrated root-zone stimulant.

CANNA also notes that extracts of A. nodosum can encourage beneficial microbial activity within the substrate, helping create a more active environment around developing roots.

How to Use CANNA RHIZOTONIC

Shake thoroughly before use.

CANNA now provides different concentrations depending on the stage and purpose of application.

First Dose / Repotting

4 ml per 1 litre of water

or

40 ml per 10 litres of water

Use this stronger concentration when establishing plants or when repotting.

Vegetative Growth

2 ml per 1 litre of water

or

20 ml per 10 litres of water

Use during the plant's active vegetative growth stage.

Generative / Flowering Stage

0.5 ml per 1 litre of water

or

5 ml per 10 litres of water

CANNA reduces the recommended RHIZOTONIC concentration once the plant enters its generative stage.

Important

Always adjust the pH after adding your base nutrients and additives to the nutrient solution.

The newer RHIZOTONIC formulation is more acidic than the previous version, making pH management easier, but CANNA still recommends checking and adjusting the final nutrient solution where appropriate.

One of RHIZOTONIC's biggest advantages is that it isn't tied to a specific CANNA growing system.

It can be used with:

CANNA describes RHIZOTONIC as suitable for all growing media and irrigation systems. In recirculating or drip-irrigation hydroponic systems, CANNA recommends renewing the nutrient solution every 5–7 days.

Use RHIZOTONIC as Part of a Complete Feeding Programme

RHIZOTONIC is a root-zone additive, not a complete base nutrient.

It works alongside the nutrient appropriate for your chosen growing medium and can be combined with other CANNA products as part of a complete feeding programme.

For example, CANNA positions RHIZOTONIC alongside CANNAZYM, CANNABOOST and PK 13/14 within its additive range, while separate base nutrient systems are available for soil, coco and hydro cultivation.

For seedlings and cuttings, RHIZOTONIC also pairs naturally with CANNA Start.

CANNA Start provides the macro- and micronutrients required by young plants, while RHIZOTONIC focuses on root development. CANNA specifically describes the combination as particularly suitable for developing strong roots before plants move onto the appropriate Vega/base nutrient programme.

Improved RHIZOTONIC Formula

The current RHIZOTONIC formulation retains the same root-stimulating purpose while CANNA has improved several practical characteristics of the product.

The newer formula has a more suitable acidic pH profile, improved colour and odour characteristics and an extended two-year shelf life. The dosage programme remains compatible with the established CANNA feeding schedules.
