Orchid Bark (Fine Grade 8–15mm)

Improves Airflow, Drainage & Root Health

Our Fine Grade Orchid Bark (8–15mm) is a natural bark-based growing medium designed to improve airflow and drainage around plant roots. It’s ideal for orchids and other plants that prefer a free-draining, oxygen-rich root zone.

This grade is small enough to work well in most pots while still creating the structure needed to prevent compaction and waterlogging.

🌿 Ideal for Orchids & Epiphytes

Orchid bark is commonly used for:

  • Orchids (including Phalaenopsis and many hybrid varieties)
  • Aroids (Monstera, Philodendron, Anthurium)
  • Hoyas and other epiphytic plants
  • Chunky houseplant mixes to increase structure and airflow

The 8–15mm particle size offers an excellent balance of drainage and moisture management for everyday orchid care and houseplant blends.

💧 Better Drainage Without Compacting

Bark naturally creates air pockets through the mix, helping excess water move through the pot and reducing the risk of soggy roots. It also supports a healthier structure over time compared to finer composts that can compact.

♻️ Natural, Clean & Versatile

  • Natural bark-based growing medium
  • Supports strong aeration and drainage
  • Great for mixing with coco coir, perlite, pumice, or worm castings
  • Suitable for potting, repotting, and refreshing existing mixes

How to Use

  • Orchids: Use on its own or blend with perlite/pumice for extra drainage
  • Houseplant mixes: Add to potting mix to create a chunkier, airier root zone
  • Top layer: Can be used as a decorative and functional surface layer to reduce splash and improve airflow

Important Note

Orchid bark is a growing medium, not a fertilizer. Feed plants as needed based on species and season, and refresh the bark when it begins to break down.
